Synopsis
Hate Story 4 is the 4th part of the Indian erotic-thriller movie franchise Hate Story. This film came out in March 2018 and was directed by Vishal Pandya, who directed the earlier portions of the series. Hate Story 4 continues with themes of betrayal, lust, revenge, and murder while introducing sibling rivalry and ambition.
In the glamorous but dark world of London’s fashion scene, Hate Story 4 centers on the story of two brothers, Aryan and Rajveer Khurana, who fall for the same woman, a model called Tasha. The Khurana brothers work for their father, Vikram Khurana, who is both wealthy and heavily involved in politics. Aryan, the older brother, is dating Rishma, a woman described as both controlling and jealous. However, he becomes captivated by Tasha’s beauty and innocence.
Tasha meets Rajveer first because he is a photographer, and he brings her into the world of modeling. He tries to win Tasha over. What was professional admiration evolves into obsession. Tasha appears to be a collateral, painted as naive and vulnerable, seemingly ensnared in the rivalry between the two siblings. But nothing is as it appears.
As the story develops, the secrets begin to unfold. Tasha is not as innocent as she seems. Behind her adorable smile is a woman full of vengeance and a dark history. The motive behind all the Aryan and Rajveer’s past actions start to connect. She has meticulously orchestrated her plan to infiltrate the siblings’ world, manipulating circumstances to engineer their downfall.
One by one, the tangled web of lies begins to suffocate. Affairs get uncovered, killings happen, and alliances shift in an instant. As Vikram Khurana’s political aspirations go head to head with his sons’ self-destructive antics, the family begins to tear apart. Tasha reveals what drives her in a final showdown where, to her, justice has finally been achieved.
Moving away from the traditional love stories that revolve around a single hero, Hate Story 4 builds suspense through revenge, deceit, glamour, and eroticism. The story uncovers layers of passion, power and revenge and tells the story of a strong woman, Tasha, whose actions stem from a tragic incident in her past.

Key Themes and Analysis
- Revenge and Deception
Hate Story 4 revolves around revenge. Tasha’s manipulation of the Khurana brothers isn’t an act of greed or ambition; it’s an act of vengeance. Her metamorphosis from a ‘defenseless’ model into an assiduous avenger echoes the women empowerment trope of the franchise where women seize the opportunity to take the narrative into their own hands.
- Power Relations and The Male Dominated Society
The movie makes subtle remarks on male privilege and the patriarchal society through Aryan and Rajveer’s characters. Both objectify Tasha and consider her an ‘asset’ to be owned. Their limited perspective of viewing her beyond just a possession greatly contributes to their downslide.
- Family Feud
The feud between Aryan and Rajveer transcends romantic rivalry; it showcases the underlying problems of the Khurana family. Their toxic bond revolves around the notions of control, validation, and family legacy. Their rivalry over Tasha’s love serves to expose these fractures even further.
- Eroticism as a Weapon
Hate Story 4 flips the trope of women labeled as sex symbols in erotic thrillers. Tasha uses her sexuality to further her narrative. It becomes a device with which she is able to control and bring down the men who belittle her.
- Glamour vs. Morality
Set in the world of fashion in London, the film displays a world of glitz and glamour, filled with beauty, wealth, and style. However, the underlying storyline reveals the darkness and immorality that lies underneath the surface. In essence, the film critiques the luxurious facade and the shallow values that come with it.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
Visual Appeal: The film’s London setting alongside the fashion show scenes and overall production value offer a captivating visual experience.
Soundtrack: The film features an outstanding soundtrack composed of romantic and sensual pieces which serves to enhance its appeal.
Urvashi Rautela: She has given bold and confident performances which anchored the very emotional and dramatic storyline of the film.
Weaknesses
Underdeveloped Story: The plot lacks creativity, and the dialogues seem overly dramatized and clich.
Pacing Issues: The tempo of the film slows down at points too much, resting to an almost standstill.
Predictability: The film lacks engagement and fails to capture the attention of more experienced audiences, as it attempts to be a mystery thriller, but most of its twists are obvious and predictable.
Conclusion
Hate Story 4 continues the franchise’s tradition of intertwining glamour with revenge and drama, serving it with a thrilling dose of seduction. It does not do anything particularly new, but it succeeds in delivering bold and stylized action, emotionally charged drama, and erotic tension.
Even with the largely negative reviews, the film still found success with the niche audience due to its bold themes and music. Urvashi Rautela’s performance in the movie, especially as a woman driven by vengeance, adds a lot of intensity to the otherwise predictable storyline, standing out as the film’s highlight.
If emotionally charged steam thrillers with intense confrontations are of interest, Hate Story 4 will take its viewers through a largely predictable albeit engaging journey through ambition, betrayal, and revenge.
