All American Bikini Car Wash

Synopsis

Directed by Nimrod Zalmanowitz, All American Bikini Car Wash is a comedy film that was released in 2015. The film captures the entrepreneurial spirit of a group of students in a farcical manner, focusing on the students running a car wash that is quite out of the ordinary. Although the title of the film suggests a serious adult theme, the film is lighthearted and harmless, depicting humorous instances that illustrate teamwork, a sense of responsibility, and the pursuit of one’s dreams.

The story is about Jack, a very easy-going student who is also a college student, and is struggling with a few subjects. Within the scope of a final project for one of his business courses, Jack is assigned the responsibility of managing a company in real-life. His professor is the one to validate his capacity to manage and lead a business, so he can move on with his course.

In light of this assignment, Jack is made to manage a local, and very poorly maintained, car wash. The car wash is in need of energy, proper marketing, and a clear vision to even begin to succeed. Jack is determined to show he can turn the business around, so he recruits his college peers for help. Really turning the business around gets the whole group excited and focused on the new plans.

Their goal is to make the car wash a fun, high-energy experience, one that customers visit not just for the service but for the atmosphere as well. With the help of some friend, the team begins creatively and aggressively marketing the wash. They implement music, vibrant and eye-catching songs, elaborate/engaging themed events and a team of exuberantly enthusiastic and charming employees.

As the wash begins to establish a solid reputation, positive word of mouth circulates in the surrounding community. Business booms, and the once-skeptical professor finally begins to see the results. With this tide of new customers, Jack is now forced to divide his time not just between the demands of a business, but also the mingling of his friends, the rivalry with other business, and the focus on his studies.

There is a multitude of awkward, humorous and illustrative moments. Through these experiences, Jack comes to know the value of hard work, and the respect due to others, the moral complexities of business, and a positive focus on community. He finally begins to understand that success is not the profit or the positive visibility, but the ability to establish a connection between people.

As light-hearted and whimsical as it may seem, ultimately the film concludes on the theme of self-building. Jack learns what it means to be responsible, and what it means to lead with honor and dignity. His time as the car wash manager becomes more than just a class project.
