Synopsis
“My Mom’s New Boyfriend,” set in 2008, offers a relatively tame comedy laced with crime and is directed by and authored George Gallo. The movie tackles the more humorous and thrilling elements that lie in the nexus of family, trust, and self-help.
The movie features Colin Hanks in the role of a young and responsible FBI agent called Henry Durand. Tommy was suspected to be a part of the investigation concerning the disappearance of a priceless artifact. For which Henry, who had recently returned to the FBI, had to attend the meeting and set the frameworks of the analysis concerning the case. Comic and embarrassing moments which all the culprits of a case carry, suddenly set a weighty grimace on the face of Henry.
He was out on a mission with his FBI comrades, only to reveal precisely the underbelly of the subject in the investigation Marty was often considered a prominent part of. Unable to move on, he crossed the line, setting foot on terrain known to belong to none other than his mother. With elegant and clever character portrayals, Banderas’ performance keeps the audience on their toes regarding the character’s underlying motives. The seamless interactions he shares with both Ryan and Hanks are captivating and feel effortless.
Hanks Colin rounds My Dad the Movie as the person to whom, we viewers, are most able to connect with. The ticklishness he brings to the lunacy of the scenario serves to root it in both comedy and pathos. The fact that he started as being uncomfortable and was able to ultimately grasp the situation, speaks to what I find most appealing in all films.
